1/21:  S/O:  PER AM ACOS, PATIENT WAS BLEEDING FROM THE NOSE. ON PRESENTATION, PATIENT WAS BAR.NO REPORTS OF C/S/V/D. MILD TRAIL OF BRIGHT HEMORRHAGIC NASAL DISCHARGE BILATERALLY – NOT ACTIVE. WIPED AWAY WITH GAUZE – NO NEW DISCHARGE PRESENT IMMEDIATELY, HOWEVER AFTER ABOUT ONE MINUTE, A MILD AMOUNT OF SEROSANGUINOUS (LIGHTLY TINGED) NASAL DISCHARGE BILATERALLY WAS PRESENT.  NON-PAINFUL ON PALPATION OF NOSE  MM = PINK, MOIST, CRT< 2 SEC; NO ECCHYMOSES OR PETECHIATION NOTED  H/L  = WNL, PSS  A:  SEROSANGUINOUS NASAL DISCHARGE = R/O EPISTAXIS SECONDARY TO TRAUMA VS. HYPERTENSION VS. INFECTIOUS (EARLY CIRDC?)/INFLAMMATORY (RHINITIS) VS. COAGULOPATHY VS. OTHER

PLACED IN MEDICAL AND WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR UNTIL TOMORROW IN CASE OF ACUTE TRAUMA.  IF PATIENT STILL HAS EPISTAXIS, RECOMMEND FURTHER WORK UP (BLOODWORK) AND PLACEMENT. WILL START DOXYCYCLINE – 200MG PO SID X 10 DAYS, IN CASE OF EARLY CIRDC WITH SECONDARY NASAL MUCOSA INFLAMMATION

PROFILE:

Basic Information: Lucky is approx 9 month old American Pit-bull mix. He was given to owner as a gift when a puppy. Owner surrender Lucky due to moving toa place that doesn’t allow pets. Lucky lived with two adults and children ages 10,4,16, and 17 years old.

Intake Behavior: Upon intake Lucky was nervous with tail tuck. He ate treats but became tense when handled. He scanned positive for a microchip and allowed handling when approached slowly.

PLAYGROUP: Lucky greets the female dog with a soft body and whines at the gate. Once the gate is open he attempts to play but lacks appropriate plays skills and becomes sexually motivated.
