01/24/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It is difficult to get to know a dog when the “elements” are not very favorable. Rain was pouring on New York City yesterday, and not every pooch liked it. Lulu (what a beautiful French name) was waiting patiently at her door and got leashed in no time. A real trooper she was, wearing her cone (she had just been spayed) and marching bravely while we were being both heavily soaked. She knew she had to do her business as usual. Our walk was cut short and most of our time together was spent drying her coat, which she loved, and trying to take pictures with a camera that does not like inside light. Lulu was so obedient and compliant, sitting, standing, cocking her head…and she did not mind the dogs my co-volunteer was walking in front of her. Lulu was surrendered as her owner could not care for her pets any longer. She lived peacefully with two other Pitties, children, and adults, and was recommended to us as a good dog with no handling issues, housetrained, well mannered, playful and affectionate. Lulu has been well cared for. She is of a ideal weight, is healthy and very well dressed in her marble cake coat. She is attentive, gentle, although we are told that she is also lively and energetic. Having lived with kids as well as other dogs, and having performed very well on her behavioral evaluation, Lulu, most likely, would make once again a wonderful and loyal forever best friend. Come, meet her at the Manhattan Care Center and take her home.
