I am a female brown chihuahua sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/07/2016 from NY 10029, owner surrender reason stated was INAD FACIL.

05/07/16 17:58hrs Lulu is a 4 year old female chihuahua. She was cared for by her owner for the past 4 years. She is described as friendly, affectionate but fearful. She has interacted with a 4 year old child and she allows petting and having her belly rubbed.She appears to not be housetrained because she relieves herself everywhere in the home. She will growl and snap if someone attempts to touch her food while she is eating. During intake, Lulu would remain near her owner. If a hand was extended towards her, she will lower her head away and tuck her tail under. Lulu will allow petting ontop of her head but her body will remain firm and tail tucked under. She was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.

Lulu was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth and growling. Once she was safely removed from her kennel with a towel Lulu walks with a low fearful body language on leash. Lulu was uncomfortable with handling; she wrinkles her muzzle and snapped at the assessor. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Lulu was not interested in toys. Lulu does not approach other dog, attempts to exit. Lulu was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Lulu is friendly, affectionate but fearful. She has interacted with a 4 year old child and she allows petting and having her belly rubbed. She will growl and snap if someone attempts to touch her food while she is eating”. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
