A Staff member writes : This just might be your lucky day! Lucky Lucy is in search of her new forever home. This little mini girl will take you by storm. Lucky Lucy was brought in as a stray and is now in search of her new forever home. Are you the lucky one for Lucy?
Behavior:
Lucky Lucy came into our center as a stray so behaviors in the home are unknown. She was friendly and allowed all handling during her initial medical exam. She walked well on leash for her relief walk, no pulling. She was friendly upon entering the SAFER assessment room, but a bit apprehensive when approached. Lucky Lucy allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, slight wagging tail. She leaned into towards assessor during Sensitivity item, mouth closed, ears back. Lucky Lucy was uncomfortable during Tag game, crouched at each pass, spinning towards hand on last pass, tense and fearful, but approached assessor at end of game. She lip licked during positioning for paw Squeeze. Did not pull her paw back on both Squeeze attempts, body a bit tense. Lucky Lucy kept a firm grip on Toy, body a bit tense when assess-a-hand approached. When off leash with other dogs Lucky Lucy engages in a bit of running play solicited by paw slaps. She offers correction (quick turn and growl) when mounted by a male. The Behavior Team feels Lucky Lucy would do well with an Experienced adopter that does not have very young children.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail slightly wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 2. Dog leans in towards the Assessor, ears back, mouth closed.
Tag: 3. Dog is crouced at each pass, spins toward the touch on last pass, mouth closed, body stiff, approaches at end.
Squeeze 1: 1. Lip lick, does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back.
Toy 2. Dog keeps a firm grip, body a bit tense.
Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs Lucky Lucy engages in a bit of running play solicited by paw slaps. She offers correction (quick turn and growl) when mounted by a male.
Group Behavior:
When off leash with other dogs Lucky Lucy engages in a bit of running play solicited by paw slaps. She offers correction (quick turn and growl) when mounted by a male.
2/9 update:
Lucky Lucy is exuberant and pushy when soliciting play. She offers bows and paw slaps but does not cease when the other dogs are exhibiting signs that they are not comfortable.
2/10 update: Lucky Lucy is pushy and vocal when engaging in play with males and females. She is a bit assertive with a larger female and will offer correction to a male that is too boistrous for her.
2/11 update: Lucky Lucy continues to exhibit these behaviors when off leash with the dogs.
2/12 update: Lucky Lucy continues to engage in pushy running play with both large and small dogs.
