08/14/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/14/16 12:41 Basic Info: Lucky Luck A0694312 is a 10yr old neutered male white & tan German Shepherd/Chow Chow mix that was bought from a breeder down south10yrs ago & is being surrendered along with his little “brother” Peanut A1085363 due to the owner moving to where pets aren’t allowed. Lucky Luck was last seen by a veterinarian in the summer of 2015 and currently has no known health issues. Socialization: Around strangers Lucky Luck is friendly/outgoing or “reserved” He hasn’t been around/lived with cats but did spend time with a 7yr old & neighbor children who love him and he was gentle, exuberant & playful with them, Peanut & the adults in the home. Lucky Luck has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Lucky Luck isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. Lucky Luck will attempt to get away when getting his nails trimmed but loves baths. If someone approaches the home/family member he’ll bark & jump on them (at times) to greet them. For A New Family to Know: Lucky Luck is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, & excitable with a medium-high activity level. The owner likes how friendly he is. Lucky Luck enjoys playing with ball, squeaky, rope toys and games of fetch & tug. He’s mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on the floor (doesn’t like dog beds; will destroy him) & is walked 2-3x a day where he pulls on his leash sometimes. Lucky Luck eats dry & wet Pedigree dog food 2x a day. Lucky Luck’s known commands are “sit”, “stay” & “come” that he doesn’t always listen to. Intake Behavior: Lucky Luck allowed some handling. He was very wiggly until I approached him to collar him so the owner assisted with collaring (that had somehow fallen off) and with taking his picture. Lucky Luck was then coaxed into his kennel with sweet talk and some food.
08/31/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Lucky Luck came to us with his little Chi friend, Peanut as their family moved to a place not allowing dogs. Strange name, though… Lucky Luck is a famous Belgian cartoon character, a sheriff trying to restore justice in the Far West.. LL looks like he has been primed for a dog show. His grooming is top of the line. I have never seen a dog as silky, fluffy and clean. His eyes are clear amber and his teeth are quite in a good shape. His weight is excellent. Lucky Luck has been so well cared for.. If looks are important, temperament and behavior are even more. LL is a well mannered elderly(really elderly?????) gentleman, gentle, calm, reserved, a great walker, likely housetrained(confirmed by his former owner), easy going, sociable and friendly. He is welcoming in his kennel, sits on command and takes treats delicately from my hand. He is a great model for the photographer and responds so well to squeeky toys. I bet he loved to play. LL seems to like other dogs, males or females, big or little. In playgroup with his peers, he greets politely. Lucky Luck comes with excellent recommendations, being gentle and friendly with kids, strangers and his little friend Peanut. He would be affectionate and very playful. Lucky Luck might be ten year old but he is in tip top shape, up and about, upbeat and will make a wonderful loving pet if he is given the chance at a new life. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center. A volunteer adds: I know I am ten…but I have been well cared for and my parents gave me good genes. I am not looking or feeling my age and I have still plenty of life in me to go for long walks, play, enjoy my peers and give a lot of love and loyalty to a new master or family. I have been at the care center for a while now. I have been passed over so many times but I have not lost my spirit and always look forward to my next walk with a volunteer. I keep myself well groomed, presentable and well mannered although I do not always agree with going back to my den. Think about it, not that long ago, I had a whole house to myself… So, here I am, Lucky Luck, waiting and hoping for you to come, my new master, I promise to love unconditionally.
