04/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lucky was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling and lunges trough the bars and the rope. He did not show any social behavior. Once he was out of the kennel he had his tail tucked, ears back, lowered body and was giving a low growl. The behavior team decided to place him back in his kennel he was difficult to handle. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Lucky is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. Lucky did not allow any touch or handling during his medical exam behavior he was also intolerant of handling growling, tried to attack and bite. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
04/20/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Lucky has been tense and uncomfortable with dogs while in the care center. He is always tense when interacting but has begun to approach to greet and potentially mount. He arrived at the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction as well as allowing him time to acclimate to his surroundings before introducing him to any resident dogs. When off leash with other dogs, Lucky is tense and does not approach. 4/21 update: Lucky is stiff-bodied when interacting. He briefly sniffs then attempts to mount. 4/26 update: Lucky is intially tense, then greets with a small wag. He approaches and makes one attempt to mount, and vocalizes in response to correction. 4/27 update: Lucky is a bit tense but keeps to himself.
