02/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Luciano pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Luciano was excited and mouthy during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Luciano took the toy with a soft body language. Luciano appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home that can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand, but does not apply pressure and licks hands . Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Luciano is tense when approached and sniffed by the female greeter. He then begins to roam the yard and ignores further solicitation.
02/23/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Luciano has mostly displayed anxious behavior while in the yard, often distracted from interacting with the other dogs. He briefly greets females and may also display sexually motivated behavior. He has not yet been introduced to a male while in our care. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction as well as allowing Luciano time to acclimate into a new environment before introducing him to a resident dog. He arrived into our care as a stray so in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Luciano is tense when approached and sniffed by the female greeter. He then begins to roam the yard and ignores further solicitation. 2/24 update: Luciano is a bit anxious, still attempts to mount. 2/25 update: Luciano briefly offers greeting but is distracted by his surroundings. 2/26 update: Luciano exhibits sexually motivated behaviors, standing tall, circling and whining. When he is unable to mount he roams the yard and greets dogs in adjacent pens.
