A volunteer writes: I call him the perfect gentleman. I love his name, too: Luca. Luca is wishing upon a star that we will find for him a new home to belong to and a new family to love. Luca sits at his door before being leashed. He is an easy going companion, a good walker, not a pigeon or a squirrel chaser and is quite respectful of other dogs met, big and small. His tail wags when he encounters children. He does his business on the way. Luca is a beautiful dog who has been very well cared for. He is well made, the proper weight and outstandingly dressed in his latte and cream coat. He has a “lucky” spot on top of his head and “talkative” cabbage ears. Luca sits on command and takes treats very nicely from my hand. He knows how to shake hands too. He wiggles his tail when I caress him. I made so many demands of Luca…and he put up with them like the great trooper he is. Luca comes with wonderful comments from his former owner. He is an elegant, sociable, friendly and well mannered gent who has still a number of good years ahead of him to indulge a new owner or family with his love and loyalty. Come and meet Luca soon at the Manhattan Care Center.
Another volunteer writes: “He’s a good dog”, said his former owner who had to surrender him as she’s in a wheelchair and can no longer take care of him. I was looking forward to meeting Luca, as staff told me I couldn’t leave until meeting him as “he’s the man”. And, indeed he is. A dream on the leash, he’s so gentle and respectful I couldn’t help but cuddle with him and tell him that we would find him a new family to love. We’re told that he gets along with everyone including children, knows several commands (he showed me his ‘sit’ and ‘paw’), has lived well with other dogs, loves to play and to be hugged, and is housetrained. Luca has romped in group with females. He’s lived with that family his entire life and is doing well considering this major change. Won’t you make my promise to him come true?
