03/24/16 16:12 Basic Information Lovita was bought in as an owner’s surrender due to complaints from her neighbors. Owner has had Lovita for the past three years after getting her from the previous owner. Owner says Lovita was last seen by the vet last year and does not have any injuries or health concerns. Socialization & Behavior Lovita is described as being uncomfortable and will sometimes bark and lunge when in the presence of strangers. Lovita lived with children ages 7, and 10. Owner states she is playful and affectionate when interacting with the children. Owner says Lovita has not spent any time with other animals. There was an incident where Lovita bit her owner’s friend’s child. Owner says the child was playing with Lovita unsupervis3ed so she is unsure of what occurred. Owner says Lovita remains relaxed and friendly if food and possessions are touched while eating or at any other time. Lovita is not allowed on furniture and owner says she’ll normally deal with baths. Owner says Lovita barks and lunges if someone unfamiliar approaches the home or owner while out. When having visitors owner says Lovita is kept in a bedroom. For a New Family to Know Lovita is described as affectionate, playful, and mellow. When home Lovita is normally following her family members around and does not have toys to play with. Lovita is taken outside twice per day and free fed dry food. Lovita is trained to use the bathroom outside and owner says she never has accidents. Lovita is behaved when home alone, and owner says she pulls hard on her leash. Behavior during Intake Lovita was stressed during intake. She paced and cried once owner left. Lovita was muzzled during intake, but jumped into counselor’s lap for petting and to show affection. Lovita’s muzzle was removed for her photo. Once muzzle was removed Lovita still allowed petting and handling. Lovita showed no signs of aggression during intake.

Lovita pulls a bit on the leash. She was shy during the assessment – low body, but trying to stay close. Lovita was shy and became fearful about having their head touched during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Lovita was not interested in toys. She rushed in confidently towards the friendly dog, with her body is tense, ears erect and high tail wag. Lovita was surrender to us. According to her previous owner Lovita lived with children ages 7, and 10. Owner states she is playful and affectionate when interacting with the children. Owner says Lovita has not spent any time with other animals. There was an incident where Lovita bit her owner’s friend’s child. Owner says the child was playing with Lovita unsupervis3ed so she is unsure of what occurred. Owner says Lovita remains relaxed and friendly if food and possessions are touched while eating or at any other time”. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter no children. Lovita is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, shy body language , mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) she is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 3.
