09/13/16 19:15 Basic Information: Louie is a 5 year old Catahoula mix who was surrendered due to his previous owner moving to a place where animals are not allowed. Socialization: Around strangers Louie is shy for a few minutes and plays gently with adults.Louie has lived with children ages 3 to 8 years old and is relaxed and plays gently with them. Louie has liveed with a small dog and was relxed and playfel with him. Louie has never been around cats so it is unknown how he will react to being around them. Behavior: Louie has never bitten another person or animal and has no behavior issues. Louie is not bothered by a loud sounds. Louie is friednly when someone touches his food or bowl while he is eating, takes a treat/toy away, pushes/pulls him off of the furniture, gives him a bath, trims his nails, brushes his coat, or holds/ restrains him. If an unfamiliar person apporaches Louie’s family or home Louie is friendly toward them. Louie is not bothered when people disturb him while he is resting/sleeping. For a new family to Know: Louie is described as: friednly, affectionate, confident and mellow with with a medium activity level. When at home Louie likes to stay inhis favorite spot and likes to play with chew bones.Louie was kept indoors only and was fed dry food only on an open feeding schedule. Louie is house trained and rarely has any accidents. Louie knows the command sit. Louie likes brisk walks on a leash and pulls lightly. When off leash Louie will wander some but will come when called. Louie will go to the bathroom anywhere outside. Intake behavior: Louie allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures with no signs of aggression.

Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is fearful, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. According to Louie’s previous owner, Louie has lived with a small dog and was relaxed and playful with him. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Louie displays soft body language and mostly keeps to himself as he wanders in groups of male and female dogs. He is tolerant of face to face greetings. The Behavior Department recommends that Louie be placed in a home with a dog, either male or female, that matches his calm energy level. 9/15: Louie greets the novel female dog displaying neutral body language. He is tolerant of her face to face greeting but mostly keeps to himself as he paces the perimeter of the pen. 9/16: Louie continues to be anxious, constantly pacing around the pens. He very briefly greets the other dog but mostly keeps to himself. He does not interact much with the handlers either. 9/20-9/24: Louie greets male dogs displaying soft body language. He mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen. He displays look aways and lip curls when he becomes uncomfortable with a long face to face greeting.
