I am a male red and white siberian husky mix. The shelter thinks I am about 8 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/15/2017 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

01/15/17 12:00 Finder stated that Lou approached him with a relaxed body. Finder was able to place a collar and leash on Lou and bring to our facility without any issues. Behavior during intake: Lou was nervous and kept lip licking. When I put my hand out he did approach me. I was able to scan for a mc, collar and take a picture without any issues.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact, Stray Other notes: Lou allowed all handling during intake. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 01/17/17 Summary: Due his current medical condition/health status, Lou is not an appropriate candidate for a SAFER assessment at this time. The behavior department believes Lou would benefit best from placement with a New Hope Rescue who can meet his needs medically and then assess behavior once he is in a stable environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing/exposing Lou to new and unfamiliar situations. Lou appears to be very sweet and calm, he allows all handling without any issue and is highly attention seeking. Lou has displayed no behavioral concerns. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 01/15/17 During his initial medical examination, Lou allowed all handling without issue. Lou was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. 1/17: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Lou displays neutral body language when greeting a novel female dog. He mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen, tolerating the female’s face to face greetings. 1/19: Lou displays soft body language as he calmly wanders in a group of male and female dogs. He is tolerant of play solicitations and assertive posturing.

01/15/17 12:17 Brought in as stray – unknown history QAR, nervous but allowed examination. Muzzled as precaution Walks in crouched posture with hunched back and weak hind limbs CPs intact. No overt/external injuries Stiff on flexion/extension of hips with crepitus bilaterally Mild crepitus at stifles with very subtle cranial drawer present at right stifle. Stiff epaxial muscles, flinches some on spinal palpation throughout. Dirty, unkempt coat with ecessive shedding throughout. Patch of hair regrowth at caudal dorsum. H/L: auscult normally EENT: Muzzled, no oral exam. Ears tender when canal examined – excess brown debris AU. Small (blueberry-sized) pedunculated growth in outer canal AS. NND. Eyes clear OU. 2 testes down – Right testicle moderately enlarged and firm on palpation; left testicle comparatively smaller and much softer. Rectal NP A; Senior M Husky 1. Hind limb paresis – r/o OA vs LS vs IVDD vs other 2. Suspect OA at hips, spine, stifles (generalized) – possible partial CCL tear at right stifle 3. Otitis externa AU 4. Unkempt coat 5. Testicular irregularity – possible neoplasia vs hypertrophy vs other P: Reco placement for full geriatric work up and support/multi-modal pain management of joint disease Reco full labwork – able to obtain Chemistry panel at BACC (pending) Reco neuter Reco grooming Clean ears AU Tresaderm AU BID x 5 days Rx Rimadyl 50 mg PO BID x 5 days – consider long-term pending response Rest; reco extra bedding **Addendum** ALP: 445 (elevated, 23-212) Rest of Chemistry WNL (including all liver/kidney values) Reco continue above plan with Rimadyl. Reco monitor liver values if NSAID use remains long-term.
