SAFER: EXERPEINCED HOME
Helper dog: A1058600
Loreli came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Loreli was calm with loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Loreli came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, social and affectionate towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Loreli joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Loreli was easy to handle when engaged with the item. When on leash for dog to dog interaction with the helper dog Loreli rushing in with her tail high, stiff body, growling, head tall, and ears erect. Due to some concerns with Loreli dog to dog interaction, the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter and we recommend being the only dog into the household.
Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins.
Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed.
Toy: 1. No interest.
