03/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Looking for a good time? Call Miss Lola as she’ll deliver!!! The party is where ever Lola is….She’s fun, friendly, energetic, playful, and very puppy like for her age of 3 years. Maybe, like Peter Pan, she’ll never quite grow up and won’t that be wonderful. A sleek girl in her clean white coat, amber eyes and freckled nose, she’s thrilled to be out for a walk using the ‘facilities’ the moment we were out the door. Her leash manners are lovely and we enjoy a nice walk before heading to the backyard for some play time. Bouncy and fun, Lola is a happy girl: happy to make friends (she kissed a new friend right away!), happy to be bouncing around off leash, happy to enjoy some treats, and happy to be snuggling in my lap for some kisses. Everything she does is done with enthusiasm and the joy of a good time. Lola needs an active and energetic human for long walks, maybe some jogging, and lots of snuggle time. A petite little girl, she’ll fit into any home size, as long as the routine includes lots of fun things to do. Recommended for an experienced dog owner due to her energy level, Lola is ready to show you how fun life can be. 03/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lola pulls a bit on the leash. She was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy (light). Lola was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Lola was easy to handle when chewing on toys. Lola appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experience home. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand, with loose body and open mouth, mouths the hand, but does not apply pressure. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds Squeeze2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place his body between you and the toy.
03/23/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Lola is social and playful with both male and female dogs. She is vocal and will offer bows and paw slaps to solicit play. If other dogs are engaging in play she often will insert herself and attempt to get them to engage with her as well. She arrived at the care center as an owner surrender but no information was given about her with other dogs, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department feels that Lola could go to a home with another dog that has a similar play style as her. When off leash with other dogs, Lola engages in bouncy play, often using her paws during. 3/24 update: Lola engages in vocal running play with males and females. She attempts to insert herself into play when other dogs are engaging without her.
