Hello, my name is Lola. My animal id is #10564. I am a desexed female black dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 10 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 23-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Lola is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs.

UA: Blood 10, bilirubin 2, protein 500, ascorbic acid ++, pH 8, USC 1.005 CBC: leukocytosis 27.04 (5.05-16.76), monocytosis 1.37 (0.16-1.12), neutrophilia 23.06 (2.95-11.64), thrombocytopenia due to clumping Chem: wnl T4: wnl 2.4

Behavior Condition: 1. Green
Upon intake Lola was friendly and exuberant and allowed the counselor to collar her and take a photo.

Spay/Neuter Status: Spayed
Basic Information:: Lola is a 10 year old altered female Medium dog breed, she came to her home form NSAL 10 years ago and is being surrender due to the owner moving into an apartment that does not allow pets in the home.
Previously lived with:: 2 adults, 2child
How is this dog around strangers?: Around strangers Lola barks at first but she approaches sniffs and becomes friendly.
How is this dog around children?: She has lived with a lot of children and is playful and exuberant.
How is this dog around other dogs?: Lola does not like other dogs and will hard bark and growl if she sees them.
Resource guarding:: During loud noises or fireworks, Lola becomes anxious and barks a lot and tries to hide. Lola isn’t bothered when someone touches her while eating. When someone tries to touch her toys Lola will growl, or snap. Lola tries to escape out of the tub during a bath. During a nail trim Lola is muzzled but with the muzzle on she is calm and allows the handling.
Bite history:: Lola has no bite history.

Energy level/descriptors:: very high activity level
Other Notes:: Lola was described as friendly, affectionate and excitable

Medical Notes: She has no known health issues or injures and has no recent vet history.
For a New Family to Know: . Lola loves cuddles and follows the family around the home. They family does not give Lola toys especially Squeaky due to her resource guarding. She is feed Eukanuba dry food 3-4 times a day and does not like wet food. She is housetrained and goes on the grass and cement. When left home alone she is well-behaved. Lola never been crate but will cry and whine while in the crate. Lola goes on walks on leash and is only left off leash when there are no dogs around. Lola wanders some but comes back when called. Lola is also treat motivated and sits on command.

Look:: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity:: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, eyes are averted, and tail is in neutral position with a relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag:: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins.
Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:: 1. No interest.
Summary:: During the assessment Lola was anxious(panting, barking, and attempts to exit).
Summary (1):: According to Lola’s previous owner, Lola does not like other dogs and will hard bark and growl if she sees them. 10/24: When off leash at the Care Center, Lola hard barks and growl when the greeter is near the gate. A muzzle is placed on her before an off-leash interaction is conducted. Lola displays a tense posture, and muzzle punches the greeter when he approaches her.

Potential challenges comments:: Lola has shown some signs of potential anxiety in the care center, vocalizing (whining, barking) continually through the SAFER and through play sessions outside. This behavior was not reported at intake, and we have no known history on Lola, so we cannot be certain whether similar behavior will be seen in a future home environment.
