09/03/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: If I had my wish I would have spent the day with Livia! So calm, gentle and snuggly she’s the perfect date for an easy walk to the park. Her leash manners are wonderful, she pottied as soon as we were out the door, her tail wags gently at all, and her kisses are sublime! The cutest freckled nose opens up into an ear to ear smile, her eyes light up with wonder, and her soft, sweet demeanor is apparent in everything she does. I tethered Livia for some photos, and in addition to being a perfect model, when a squirrel came over to check us out perhaps looking for a treat tidbit, she looked at the squirrel and then looked back at me with a wink. ‘Silly squirrel’ she seemed to be saying. Livia sits when asked, takes treats gently, loves to be in my lap for snuggles and I loved having her there. On her first playdate she engaged in soft play with the helper dog. If I needed one word to describe Livia it would be SWEET and our behavior assesors agree, saying she’ll be a good fit in a home with average dog experience. She’s lovely and she’s waiting to meet you.
09/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Livia walks calmly on leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Livia was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She took the toy away but had soft body language. Livia did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, open mouth. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs Livia engages in soft play when solicited. She otherwise spends her time exploring the yard.
09/01/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
9/1: When off leash with other dogs Livia engages in soft play when solicited. She otherwise spends her time exploring the yard. She arrived to the care center as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior department recommends a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatibility with any resident dogs.
