03/26/15 16:06 Lipton is a black and white American Pit Bull Terrier mix that was brought in as a stray. She is estimated to be a year and a half old. At intake her tail was tucked between her hind legs and she was shivering. She was aloof, but allowed all handling by the Admissions Counselor and showed no aggression. She was very easy to collar, scan, and photograph.

Lipton was brought in as a stray surrender, so her past behavior in a home is unknown, but her finder did state although she was a bit fearful when approaching her, she did not show any concerning behaviors and allowed the finder to put a leash on her and walked calmly to their car. At intake it was noted that she was a bit fearful, but allowed all handling by the Admissions Counselor. During SAFER Lipton was sociable towards the assessor, and allowed all handling items without issue. She was playful during the tag interaction, and was easy to handle when engaged with the resource items, showing no behavior concerns. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft, low tail wag, and lip long, lip licks. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are back. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. She lifts her head when hand is pushed against her cheek. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. Dog settles close keeps a firm grip body soft. She does not place her body between you and the rawhide. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Lipton has a low tail when initially in the yard but raises her tail after a bit. She is tolerant when greeted but not interested in play or engaging beyond brief smelling interactions.
