02/27/16 14:26 BASIC INFORMATION Lioness is a 6 month old female American Pit-Bull Terrier. He was given by a friend and has been in his care for two months. She is being surrendered due to owner already having a dog ad unable to care for Lioness. There are no known health or injury problems. SOCIALIZATION Around strangers she is friendly; she can play somewhat rough with adults. She has no experience being around children or cats. She lived with 5 year old Pit-Bull and she was very playful with her. She could be somewhat rough all depend on how you play with her. There is no known history of her biting another person or animal. BEHAVIOR Lioness can destroy things in the home. You are able to touch his food bowl while she is eating. It is unknown how he reacts when treats or objects are being taken away from her. You can bath her but it will be a struggle because she doesn’t like the water and may try to escape. She enjoys having her coat brushed. Being held and restrained it’s a struggle because she tries to get away. When unfamiliar people approach the home he will bark especially when the door bell is rung but isn’t bothered otherwise. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Lioness is described as being affectionate, playful and curious with high activity level. She is unique for being energetic, her favorite activities are running and paying tug. When home she will follow you around. She likes to play with rope, mostly was kept indoors. Lioness slept in a crate and ate dry Alpo food at least 2 times a day. Her favorite treats are raw hide. She isn’t house trained but was walked on the leash 2 times a day for 20-30 minutes she will pull hard on the leash. Due to destroying things in the home, she was kept in a crate for 7-8 hours. Lioness will do best in a family home. During intake Lioness displayed a loose body and was friendly with counselor, allowed to be scanned (negative), collared and photographed.

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1066044 Lioness previously lived with 1 adult and another dog. The owner stated Lioness is friendly towards strangers; she lived with another dog and was very playful towards each other. The owner mentioned Lioness can be destructive in the home. The owner describes Lioness as affectionate, playful and curious. It was reported by the owner Lioness has a medium activity level and is not house trained but do go for outside walks twice a day. At intake it was reported Lioness was friendly with loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Lioness came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and playful towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lioness joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Lioness was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lioness is reported to show destructive behavior in the home, such as items in the home. We are unaware of what, if any, attempts were made to remedy this behavior but we suggest to future adopters that Lioness will need to be provided with physical and mental stimulation and with a variety of appropriate and engaging chew toys so Lioness can engage in necessary chewing behavior without damage to human objects. The behavior department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture.
