Lindo has allowed minimal touch and handling in the care center, and has quickly escalated to high-level warnings (snapping) when touched. 07/10/17 21:13 Basic Information: Lindo is a 4yr old small dog who was a girft from a family friend and was kept in the same home for the past month and a hald. Unfortunately he could not be kept anymore due to Lindo and another pet conflicting with each other. He was last taken to the vet last year for his yearly vaccines. Socialization: Around strangers and children Lindo is described as relaxed, respectful and outgoing and plays gentle with both adults and children. He has been socialized with one dog whom was a 4yr old Pitbull and he was tolerant of him and occasionally played gentle but would occasionally attempt to bite him as well. He has never been socialized with cats, has no record of ever biting another animal and has a record of biting a person. Behavior: Lindo will become anxious when he is alone, has attempted to escape his home when he has seen the door open and becomes nervous and attempts to hide when it comes to loud noises or fireworks. When it comes to having his food or treats touched while he is eating, or having his face touched during bath time or in general, or having his paws touched or cleaned Lindo will growl and snap at you. He isn’t bothered when it comes to having his toys touched while he is playing, being pushed off of furniture, being disturbed while he is sleeping, being brushed, having his nails trimmened or when someone unfamiliar approaches the home or owner. For a New Family to Know: Lindo is described as somewhat friendly, affectionate and playful, very confident and pushy, excitable and independent, fearful around big dogs and anxious. He has a medium activity level, enjoys walking around on 2 legs, loves to play with socks, enjoys following you around and being in the same room as you when you’re home, likes to play with balls and stuffed animals and likes to play fetch. He has been kept indoors only, likes to sleep in a dog bed, ate Science diet dry and wet food mixed 2x a day, enjoys boiled chicken occasionally, is considered very house-trained and has never had an accident at home. He is trained to use the bathroom on the wee wee pad or outside, is well behaved when left at home, has never been crate trained, likes to go on walks at least once a day, pulls lightly on leash and off leash will atempt to flee. Intake: Upon intake Lindo did not allow all handling, allowed having his picture taken and being placed in a kennel but had to be collared by previous owner.

Bite history: Yes, we are aware of two recent bites to humans. In June Lindo bit his owner’s mother when she was wiping his paws. He bared his teeth and then bit her right hand leaving broken and torn skin, and then retreated. Housetrained: Yes, trained to eliminate outside and on wee-wee pads Energy level/descriptors: Lindo is described as somewhat friendly, affectionate, and playful, very confident and pushy, excitable and independent, fearful around big dogs, and anxious, with a medium activity level. In July he bit his owner’s friend when she was hugging the owner’s mother. Lindo rushed forward and bit her left ankle. Other notes: Lindo will growl and snap when his face or paws are touched. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Summary IN-SHELTER OBSERVATIONS: 7/11: First attempt to leash, Lindo lip curled and growled at the handler. Second attempt, he was able to be leashed and Lindo took a minute to come out of his kennel. He walked well on leash, ignoring the handler throughout. He head-flipped when the leash was clipped but is easily returned to his kennel. 7/12: Lindo dodged the leash at the start but was eventually leashed. Lindo remains aloof and ignores handler, staying as far away as possible. Head-flips again when clipping leash, but is easily returned to his kennel. INTAKE BEHAVIOR: 7/10/17: At intake, Lindo allowed some handling but would not allow the staff member to collar him.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/11/17: During his initial medical examination, Lindo was nervous, growling, showing teeth, snapping, and resisted handling. 7/13/17: During his veterinary examination two days later, Lindo showed similar behavior, snapping repeatedly when touched.
