Lexy looks to me like she has a broken heart.. She lays, facing the wall in her kennel, not allowing visitors to see her beautiful face…We all know the remedy…Another meaning ful and forever love story…..That is what I am hoping for this wonderful family dog who is with us for no fault of her own. Indeed, her owners lost their home… Lexy lived and played…gently despite her size, with children of all ages. Never did she get carried away in her play. She shared peacefully her life at some point with dogs and even a cat. She was extremely sociable to strangers and never showed any handling issues, making her suitable for any kind of home settings. I tap on her shoulder…Lexy..time to get to know each other… I like her big and square horsey face. She owns giant ears , beautiful wings she would like to fly and go back…home…As noted by other volunteers, Lexy walks very nicely on the leash and of course, eliminates on the way. She acts timid, a bit aloof, her tail is between her legs and she takes some time to come around. She is a statuesque female, all dressed in grey, overly thin for her size and understandably quite hungry for treats. she meets politely other dogs in the street or though the fence and has been shy in playgroups. After a while spent together, Lexy hopped on the bench next to me. We did not speak…She squeezed her body against mine and I hugged and kissed her lovely head…back in her den, Lexy came to her door as I passed by on my way out home…and licked my hand.. Lexy scored high on her behavioral evaluation. I did not expect less from her. Come and meet this beautiful gal and make her wish come true…A new family to belong to and to love…

SAFER
Lexy pulls hard on the leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. She was calm and relaxed during handling. Lexy was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She was not interested in toys.
Lexy was surrender to us. Her previous owner described her as a being friendly always greeting people with a loose wiggly body, happy wagging tail and open mouth.Lexy lived with 3 children ages ranging from 1 – 11 yrs old,Lexy was seen playing with all the children in a calm and relaxed manner never getting over excited.Lexy was said to have gotten along with dogs and cats she lived with a cat for a short period of time and would be seen sleeping in the same small dog bed. Lexy didn’t show any food guarding behaviors. She allowed all the children to play with her toys and give her treats which she gently would take from their hands”. Lexy did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.
