09/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lexus was surrendered on 9/18/16, she has minimal behavior information. Lexus previously lived with one adult and children infant-13 years of age. Lexus was reported to be shy around strangers and will sometimes snap at them. Owner stated Lexus may be dog reactive due to her previous living condition. Lexus was reported to be friendly with the two dogs that lived in the home with her; she would growl at strangers who entered the home. There was some confliction on a few occasions with one of the dogs in the home with Lexus being the victim. During SAFER Lexus was relaxed when entering the assessment room she had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lexus was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Lexus was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lexus appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “experienced” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1/ 2: 1 Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog licks, then turns away. Playgroup:When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Lexus displays soft and loose body language when greeting the male dog. She is social, checking in on him often, as she explores the pen.
