05/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lex previously lived with adults and has been exposed around children 4 months, 6 and 10 years old. The owner stated Lex gets along with children and adults but may be too hyper for younger children. The owner describes Lex as loving, affectionate and playful. It was reported by the owner Lex is house trained, crate trained and does well up to 8 hours and when left unattended he will chew house hold items. At intake Lex had loose body posture and appeared to be very social and allowed all handling. During SAFER Lex came into the assessment room with very loose and wiggly body language. He was interested in interacting and had friendly and playful body movements. Lexi had very high energy and was difficult to position for the look item, constantly attempting to jump up on the assessor. He had soft body language during the sensitivity test. During the tag interaction Lex became very playful but ended up mouthing the leash a bit strongly. Intervention was needed though Lex did not display any signs of aggression, and he was slow to de-escalate. Lex appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The previous owner stated Lex can be too hyper for younger children, so the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no young children. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2.
