A volunteer writes: Could Leia possibly be any sweeter?! If your answer isn’t a definitive “no”, then the only explanation is that you haven’t met her yet! She has an unparalleled wiggle, the kindest eyes, and the softest personality. She seems housebroken, doesn’t pull much on leash, and LOVES treats (she’ll “sit” for them, too!). Her love for treats is surpassed for her love for cuddling: she frequently props her paws up on me, and if I sit down she will smoosh herself into my lap and stay there until I get up! Leia is looking for a very lucky person to be her own….come meet her at Brooklyn ACC!

Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins.

Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed.

Summary: Leia was friendly and playful, she was social towards the assessor and assistant.
PLAYGROUP:
Leia was surrender with another resident dog, but due to the nature of the surrender the relationship between the two is unknown.
01/06/17: When off leash in the Care Center, Leia approaches the gate with slightly low head and soft nervous posture. She allows a novel male to approach her and exchange sniff. She explores her surroundings, keeping to herself, and is tolerant of the greeter’s solicitations.
01/07/17: Leia greets both male and female dogs with a soft body. She mostly keeps to herself while she explores her surroundings. When greeting assertive females she begins to stand tall, but does not react. If a dog attempts to mount her she will give clear warning, low growls, and spin her body.
01/10/17: Leia displays confident body language when calmly socializing with male and female dogs that do not engage in play.
01/11/17:Leia displays neutral body language when interacting with novel dogs. She chooses to ignore them, spinning her rear end away and becoming stiff when they attempt to sniff her from behind.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During her initial medical examination, Leia readily allowed all handling
