05/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
Legion is described as affectionate, playful and protective. He shared a home with at least three other dogs from his litter. He lived with adults and a 2 year old child. Legion would allow the child to pet him, tug on him, rub his belly and put his hands in his mouth. Legion owner stated that he likes to play nip but has never bit anyone. Legion is the less dominant dog in the home and very playful with the other dogs in the home. Legion will bark at other dogs that he notices on the street. He will chase after squirrels in the park. BEHAVIOR Legion will follow his owner around the home. Legion will rub his head against his owner’s lap for attention. His owner stated that he will allow his owner to touch him, approach him and remove food from his mouth. He is bathed with the hose in the backyard and he enjoys water. Legion will bark at every sound he notices coming from outside of the home. He is kept inside of his own crate when his owner is gone during the day. When his owner is approached by a friend while walking all four of the dogs his owner commands the dogs to sit in order for the person to approach. Legion owner stated that if someone approaches without the dogs being commanded to sit and relax they may lunge and attack. FOR A NEW FAMILY Legion knows the commands, 1-sit, 2-five, 3-jump, 4-lay down, 5-warning and 6-attack. Legion enjoys chewing on his toys, normally baseball bats and playing tag. He is walked 4x a day and always on leash. He is fed 6 cups of dry Blue Buffalo mixed with a raw chicken breast 3x a day. He enjoys snacks of apples and banana. He sleeps in his room or outside his owner’s bedroom.

05/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Legion came into our center along with 3 other littermates that were all born in the home citing cost of taking care of them all. It is reported he lived with a 2 year old child, allowing petting, tugging, belly rubs, and child’s hand in his mouth. It is reported Legion has play nipped but never bit anyone. He reportedly chases squirrels in the park. Owner reports Legion knows the commands “1” to represent ‘sit”, “2” is “paw”, “3” jump, the number “four” is the command “lay down”, “5” is warning” and “6” is attack. Owner states if someone approaches without the dogs being commanded to sit and relax they may lunge and attack. It should be noted no other details were given as to whether this ever happened or if he “may” do it. Owner describes Legion as affectionate, playful, and protective. Legion pulled on leash during his relief walk. Legion was sociable and attention seeking upon entering SAFER assessment room. He held gaze for three full seconds during Look item, relaxed. Legion stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, ears neutral, body soft. Due to not bearing weight on right paw upon intake, Tag and paw Squeeze items were skipped. Legion had no reaction and did not respond to both Flank Squeezes. He showed no interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports he enjoys chewing on his toys, normally baseball bats and playing tag. Legion approached the helper dog slowly, at first tail at spine level but gradually raised lip and low growled. Legion would do best with an Experienced owner that does not have any children. He would benefit from being the only resident dog and walked with a harness. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Flank squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 4. Dog slowly approaches the helper dog, raised lip and low growled
