02/22/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/22/16 10:53 Lawrence was brought into the care center because his owner went to the hospital. Lawrence was standing in the front og the carrier with his tail wagging. When he was spoken to, his tail wagged faster. The couneslro was able to open the door and scan Lawrence without him charging out of the carrier. He ducked when the scanner was over his head but allowed the scanning. He had a harness and leash on inside the carrier. The couneslor grabbed the leash and Lawrence walked out. He pulled on the leash when he saw small dogs and started to whine. He allowed collaring and handling for photos as well. There were no concerning behaviors during the admissions process.

03/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lawrence came in as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. During SAFER Lawrence came into the assessment room loose and wiggly and with high energy, he was friendly and playful towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lawrence was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Lawrence was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lawrence appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. During dog to dog interaction Lawrence was muzzled prior to being introduced to the helper dog due to his behavior a few days ago. This time at the gate he gives a hard stare with a stiff posture. Once he is let into the pen with the helper dog his body remains stiff and he makes several attempts to mount but fails due to the other dog scurrying away. Lawrence was very uncomfortable with the muzzle and the interaction was halted due to him cutting his lip with his nail trying to remove it. The behavior deaprtment feels he can be suitable for an Experience adopter and we recommend being the only pet in the home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy 1: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness.
02/23/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Lawrence rushes the gate when we did the initial greeting. He paces frantically back and forth while whining and barking. His behavior appears to be motivated sexually and the level of arousal quite high. We decided to give him a day to settle before introducing him directly to the helper dog and he will need to be muzzled. 2/25 update: Lawrence was muzzled prior to being introduced to the helper dog due to his behavior on 2/23.
