02/10/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/10/16 15:57hrs Ladybird displayed a soft body and wagging tail throughout the intake process. She would allow petting on her and body. She would solicit attention from the Admissions Counselors by rubbing her face and body against them. She appeared to understand the command “sit.” She was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed.
02/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Have you ever seen a more endearing face than this? The worry wrinkles…those smooshy jowls…her pleading chocolate drop eyes…how could anyone say no to itty bitty Ladybird? She makes the most of her ‘curb appeal’ by waiting at the very front of her den with her button nose pressed to the door, and when her turn for a walk finally comes she’s up in an instant, helicopter tail whirring and ready for takeoff. Easily leashed and a good little walker, Ladybird takes care of her business promptly, and then the wiggly-waggly snugglefest is on! Though her body bears the scars of neglect and several litters, her heart is still straight-outta-the-box spotless, and she’s as open and eager for affection as any puppy. A total sweetheart who enjoys a good body massage and gently props her paws up to snarfle treats from my hand, she’ll briefly chase a toy (and give it up easily too), but her favorite game is simply hanging out and loving on her people. Wonderful as she is with us humans, Ladybird does not like to see (or hear) other dogs, and reacts very strongly whenever they come near, so an experienced adopter and a home where she can be the only four-legged baby are a must. She rocked all other areas of her behavior assessment and our staff had nothing but praise for her ‘calm’, ‘relaxed’, ‘loose and wiggly’ demeanor. The perfect companion for play time, snuggle time or any time you want to put a smile on your face, our lovely Ladybird can’t wait to fly away with her new forever family–ask to meet her today!
02/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ladybird pulls a bit on the leash. She was calm and relaxed during handling and easily engages in play, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Ladybird took the toy away but had soft body language. Ladybird becomes aroused when seeing other dogs, pulling toward them, and barks. During the behavior assessment did not show any concern. The behavior department feels that she may do best with an experienced adopter who can follow up on this behavior. We recommends a home where she is the only dog. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When walking through the yard Ladybird becomes aroused when seeing other dogs, pulling toward them, standing on her hind legs and vocalizing. She is brought back out when the yard is clear and there are no distractions. She approaches the gate and immediately vocalizes and begins snapping, but does not have a stiff body; she is muzzled for the interaction. She is distracted by the muzzle and spends most of her time trying to get it off, however, she will occasionally stop when the helper dog (male) walks near.
02/11/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Ladybird becomes aroused when passing dogs both on-leash, and when greeting through a barrier, vocalizing and snapping in the direction of passing dogs. When introduced off-leash, Ladybird has been muzzled during both interactions. Though distracted by the presence of a muzzle, Ladybird approaches the male helper and T’s his shoulders. During the second interaction, Ladybird was muzzled a second time and was again, distracted by the presence of the muzze- only briefly approaching to sniff the male greeter. The behavior department recommends that Ladybird does not go into a home with other dogs until her behaviors concerning them can be thoroughly followed up on. When walking through the yard Ladybird becomes aroused when seeing other dogs, pulling toward them, standing on her hind legs and vocalizing. She will look up (still with her head down) and run over to the him, T his shoulder then walk away. 2/17 update: Ladybird is once again muzzled for her second interaction. She continues to vocalize and snap when approached at the gate. Once allowed into the pen, Ladybird is immediately distracted by the muzzle. When approached by a different male helper, she displays neutral body posture and briefly sniffs him.
