She is social, checking in on him often as she explores the pen. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 4/12/17 During her medical examination, Lady was shy, friendly and allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: Lady is reported to have a high energy level in a home environment. We recommend daily mental and physical stimulation as an outlet to direct her energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience adult-home only (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with behaviors outlined below) _X_No children (under 13): Due to some anxious behavior in addition to some handling sensitivities, we believe Lady is likely to thrive in an adult-only home. Potential challenges: _X_Handling/touch sensitivity: Lady has been noted to become uncomfortable with handling at times, especially when a person is approaching too quickly. It is important to always go slow and give Lady the option to walk away from any social interaction. Lady should never be forced to approach anything that she is uncomfortable with or to submit to petting or handling. It should always be Lady’s choice to approach a new person or thing. Lady would do best in an initially calm and quiet home environment and should be given time to acclimate to her new surroundings _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Though observed to be human-social, Lady may need time to warm up to the handler as she initially presents as a fearful dog, avoiding contact, shying away from direct touch. We recommend allowing Lady to interact at her own pace, force-free, rewarding based training is advised when introducing her to new/unfamiliar situations. _X_Anxiety
