PROFILE:
Basic Information:
Lady is a one year old, spayed, american pit bull terrier. She came into our care center because her owner is no longer able to care for her. The owner stated that he picked Lady up from a breeder with another dog, whom she shared a home with.
Socialization:
Around stranger Lady is likely to approach them and wag her tail. She likes getting pet and during her evalution her body remained loose and wiggly. She enjoys gently play wiht adults and children alike. She had spent time around children, including babies and children up to seven years of age. I
Behavior:
Lady is used to going outside to use the bathroom. If she needs to go out for a walk she will go to the door and sit. She is crate- trained and enjoys being in her crate. She is also feed in her crate and her owner mentioned that when he refills her bowls she does not exhbit any signs of guarding but rather waits patiently for him to finish.
For a New Family to Know:
Lady is playful with her favorite toys being bones and rope. She likes to tug on the rope and run around outside with her brother, another american pit bull terrier she shared her home with. She had been given a diet of mostly dry food with the occasional bully sticks as a treat. Some commands that she knows include sit and down. Additionally on her walks she is not known to pull unless she needs to relieve herself by a particular tree or she sees something enticing.
Behavior During Intake:
Lady had a soft wiggly body throughout her evaluation. She came up to the counselor and rubbed her body on the counselor leg. As the counselor rubbed her side Lady layed down, with her belly in the air. She remained relaxed and playful while she was being collared and photographed and gave the counselor her paw several times.
