05/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lady previously lived with 4 adults and 2 children in the home. The owner stated around strangers, children and adults Lady is playful, outgoing and exuberant; she also lived with two cats and is described as relaxed and respectful towards them. The owner mentioned when Lady is left alone she will destroy household items. It was reported by the owner Missy is house trained, crate trained and does well for several hours and well behaved when home alone. At intake it was reported Missy was calm and relaxed, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Lady came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, social and playful towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lady joins the game, mouths the leash but quickly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Lady was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lady appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. Due to Lady’s behavior during playgroup we recommend that Lady go to an experienced adopter with no other dogs. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing; soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. mouths leash but quickly de-escalates. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: 4/28:Lady entered the pen and approached the gate with slight energy but neutral body. When the handler was about to open the gate door she hard bark and growl at the other dog. For further introduction, she was muzzled. When the other dog was let into the pen she had a stiff body and hard eyes. She growled and lunged when the greeter dog attempt to sniff her. The interaction ended and she was removed from the play pens. While the handlers were taking off her muzzle, she was focused on the direction of the other dog while displaying hard eyes.
