08/16/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: You don’t get a whole lot of “personal space” when you spend time with Lacey. She’s a dog that likes to stay close, so close that she often jumps up on you to get your attention. But who wouldn’t want a dog that could make you feel like you’re the most important, pertinent person in the world? Lacey’s former owner confirms: Lacey is the most loyal, loving and affectionate dog around! She likes children, but may do best with older kids, since her knack for staying close may cause her to knock one down. She’s been around other dogs and is playful with them and even lived with a cat who she got along with well. Lacey reportedly knows the command “Bang! Bang!” and will play dead on hearing it. Lacey seems housetrained and walks nicely on the leash. She is friendly and wiggly, and while she may have some energy to burn, she is just as content relaxing in the shade. If you’re looking for a dog who’s always ready to cuddle, and will have a paw on you at all times, search no further, Lacey is the one for you! Ask to meet her today!
08/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lacey previously lived with adults and has been around children ages 9 and up. The owner stated Lacey is friendly and playful around strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Lacey has resided with cats and they get along well with each other. The owner describes Lacey as a loving, affectionate and playful. It was reported Lacey is house trained and has a high activity level. At intake it was reported Lacey was loose and wiggly, mouth open, allowing all handling. During SAFER Lacey came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Lacey joins the game during the tag interaction and during the resources portion of the assessment Lacey was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Lacey appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play ends. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Dog-dog: Lacey engages in gentle play with male and female dogs. She seems to prefer gentle play, as she offers correction for high energy play.

She engages in high energy play with play bows and chest bumps. She offered a correction when another female dog leapt over her body. 8/9: Lacey engages in gentle play with male and female dogs.
