I met handsome Koji the day he arrived at the care center. His eyes were wide open and he walked cautiously. He was one lost soul…Koji was surrendered as his family did not have time for a pet anymore. He was found as a tiny puppy and comes with wonderful comments. Those I favor of course are…Gentle, affectionate and playful with the very young children of the house, fine with the resident cat, welcoming of strangers…free of handling issues, house trained and of medium level of energy. Koji , although a tinsy winsy thin, has been beautifully cared for. His coat is silky, so well-groomed and his facial folds are healthy. He does not have any calluses and it is very clear that he was kept in house and comfy…Koji is slowly coming out of his shell. He is still a little uncomfortable with pushy peers in playgroups but comes when called, sits on command, picks delicately treats from my hand and rests his head against my chest for caresses. He is not interested in a tennis ball at this point. He looks sad …Nothing and no-one around him feels like home sweet home….Let’s try a little stroll around the block…Coji pulls slightly on the leash, marks his territory and ignores pretty much all dogs encountered. Time to go back…Koji goes with the flow…I cup his head in my palms, a little kiss on the head and he goes back to his kennel like a good boy… Koji might feel a little bit better but a new family, a new home is really what would lift his mind and make his heart bounce again with joy…Come and meet Koji at the Manhattan Care Center. He is quite a gorgeous dog and a proven family pet !
