09/02/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Dear reader, Please STOP what you are doing, come to the shelter, and adopt this dog right now! If you have been looking for the cutest, sweetest, puppy dog-eyed-est, snuggliest, most pig-like little doggie angel in the world, you have found him. Really, you don’t need to keep reading–but if you are, let me tell you a little bit more about how great Aye-Aye (as in, “aye aye, Captain!”) is. Not only is he the cutest little thing I’ve ever seen in my life (maybe after my own dog at home, who thankfully can’t read or he’d be very jealous), but he seems to be housetrained, loves to give kisses and is very affectionate, and walks perfectly on the leash. Come and see this guy at the Brooklyn ACC today–to know him is to love him, I promise!

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/30/17 During the initial examination Koby was active, attention seeking, allows all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: His previous owner reports a high activity level, which matches what we have seen in the care center. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below). Potential challenges: _X_House soiling: Koby is noted to have occasional accidents in the house, and will likely need guidance with house training. We recommend crate training (the crate must be made positive and never used as a punishment), frequent walks, rewards for eliminating outside (treats, toys, games), consistent feeding schedule, and careful monitoring when inside. Accidents should never be punished as it can damage the human-dog relationship and is likely to make the problem worse.
