04/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: “You don’t have to be rich, to be my girl, you don’t have to be cool, to rule my world…” Well lovely Kiss may not have a bounty of riches or be as cool as a cucumber (she wears her heart on her furry sleeve), but somehow we still think the Purple One would approve. Sweet Kiss, with her rabbit ears and her cow print coat, well she is just my “type.” She is shy on our first meeting, her head and tail low, but I can tell from the glint in her eye that she is ready for some fun. Unfortunately rain is imminent so we spin around the block, Kiss padding along next to me, stopping to smell the literal roses along the way. Spring is here, and though clouds issue warning above us, the air is clean and crisp and there’s a light wind rushing past us. Back in a pen, Kiss is ready for the main attraction: treats! She sits right away (this isn’t her first rodeo) and gently nudges my empty palm for some more. Her tail grows increasingly higher, the wags more and more frequent until it’s all just one happy blur. After one last treat Kiss unexpectedly pops up on two legs and throws her paws up on my chest. That’s it. She’s done with the pretense. I’m a friend and we both know it. I rub her ears and she closes her eyes, forgets herself, and for a fleeting moment the sun finds us. Sweeter than a Raspberry Beret and more fun than any Little Red Corvette — Kiss is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC. Another volunteer writes: Miss Kiss’s kissing booth is open for business! This little munchkin gives great kisses and she loves to cuddle rolling in my lap giving me access to her cute belly. Her leash manners are lovely, she seems to be housetrained, and ignores other dogs as we walk. But, her claim to fame in addition to being as cute as a button with the best ears going, are her rock star sweet snuggles! In her first play group she bounces towards the helper dog to solicit play, so she may be an equal opportunity lover girl. Given the sweetness of her kisses, she’s so appropriately named and ready to shower her new person or family with kisses galore. Ask to meet her when you visit.
