08/18/16 13:07 Basic information: King Tut is a 1 year old male. He was found as a stray when he was a puppy. He was surrendered because his previous owner is moving and isn’t allowed to have pets. He has never been to the vet but has no known injuries or health problems. Socialization: Around strangers King Tut is friendly and outgoing and gentle at play. He lived with a 7 year old child and with him he was relaxed and playful and gentle at play. Behavior: King Tut has never attempted to bite a person or animal and he isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. If his food bowl is touched while eating he would back away, sit and wait. He isn’t bothered if a treat or toy is taken away while eating or playing. He was not allowed on furniture. He isn’t bothered if his paws are touched or if he is disturbed while sleeping. He is friendly if an unfamiliar person approached his home or previous owner. For a New Family to Know: King Tut is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and mellow. He has a medium activity level. When his previous owner was home he would tend to follow her around. She liked to play with balls and chew toys. His favorite game is wrestling. He was kept indoors and at night he slept anywhere. He ate dry food. He is house trained but had accidents if not taken for walks. When left alone indoors, he barks. He knows how to sit, and come on cue. For exercise he went on brisk walks 2 times daily. On leash he pulls hard off leash he wanders but comes when called. Behavior during intake: King Tut is very excitable and affectionate. He had a wiggly body and nibbles playfully when his butt is scratched but stops if told to. He jumps up for attention and is gentle. He allowed me to pet him and collar him and showed no signs of aggression.
08/20/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: King Tut indeed! Perhaps back in the day King had a person to fan him when he got too hot, but these days, King Tut is so smart he simply lies down under the park bench in the shade! King has wonderful leash manners and after a enjoyable walk to the park, and lots of fresh water to drink we hunker down on the bench (King under it), and as I pet him he semi rolls over for a belly rub! Too cute! King was surrendered by his person who’s moving where he isn’t welcome and we told that he lived gently with a 7 year old child, doesn’t guard his things, is friendly, affectionate and mellow, likes to play with balls and chew toys, is housetrained when walked regularly, and his favorite game is wrestling. King has an adorable habit of touching my hand when we walk as if checking to make sure I’m still there and happy…..such a good boy! He ignored other dogs of all sizes that passed us, as well as scooters, carriages, carts, bikes, you name it on a warm summer afternoon in the park. He wags his tail gently as I talk to him and pet him, and he’s so mellow and sweet I could have spent the entire afternoon with him. Obviously not a fan of the intense heat (who is?), he was happy to hop back into his air conditioned kennel. A lovely, easy, well cared for dog, King Tut is hoping his impressive resume and positive comments will bring him a host of suitors. We hope so too! Ask to meet him when you visit.
