04/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Big and handsome, King Kong is like the quarterback on my high school football team — all the boys want to be him, and all the girls want to be with him! He’s stocky…a big galoomph blockhead of a dog whose tail wags as we walk, is likely housetrained, and does pretty well on the leash. He shared his toy with me for a good game of tug, wagged his tail happily at a dog in an adjoining pen, takes treats gently and has the best ear to ear grin.
04/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
King Kong pulls hard on the leash. He had a soft body language, neutral wagging tail, open mouth when he meets the assessor. Once the behavior team tries to collar him King Kong became stiff, standing tall, the tail is raised, his mouth is open and snap at the assessor. Due to the behavior demonstrated the behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources King Kong was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
