02/22/2015 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: There is something warm and comfortable about King Douglas, a ruggedly handsome hunk of a dog. Maybe it’s the way he stays close to my side or leans in quietly against my shins for a snuggle; whatever it is, he’s a gentle companion who seems content with simple things in life. King Douglas joined us with Prince Porkchop (A1028172) when their family moved to a place where pets were not welcome; but his family left wonderful detailed comments in the hopes that they find loving new homes. We’re told that King Douglas has lived with a newborn (“usually will lie next to the baby”) and in harmony with cats; while playful with Prince Porkchop, King Douglas is polite to other dogs and friendly with other children and strangers. We’re also told he is well-behaved at home, house-trained and responsive to a number of commands; and, he is an affectionate dog who enjoys playing ball and tug. There’s so much more I could tell you, including his great behavior assessment at the Care Center, all indicating that King Douglas would be an amazing addition to almost any home. As noted by staff, he’s a “chill dog” in play groups. King Douglas might not be flashy but he has a heart, a warm loving heart longing for a new family to love. He’s such a treasure, a loyal companion for life – won’t you give him another chance?
