I am a neutered male brown and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 6 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/28/2016 from NY 11692, owner surrender reason stated was ALLERGIES.

10/28/16 15:54 BASIC INFORMATION: King is a brown/ white American pit bull terrier. King was given to owner as a gift & has no known health issues. King was surrendered to ACC due to owner’s allergies towards the dog SOCIALIZATION: Owner stated King is friendly around strangers. King has been exposed around children 6 yrs and over , King has not resided with other animals and when he comes across another dog or cat he will lunge, bark and chase. King does not appear to enjoy the company of other animals. King is best described as a playful and independent dog. BEHAVIOR: King does not show signs of aggression when owner touches food bowl while he is eating. If owner attempts to take bone, toy or any object from his mouth he may growl. When an unfamiliar person approaches the home, he barks & makes the owner aware. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: King has a high activity level. Owners favorite things of King is, he is extremely affectionate & is always there to greet the owner, He does not play with dog toys. He enjoys chewing on chew bones. King will pull slightly when walking him, he has been kept mostly indoors & enjoys eating dry 7 wet food separately from any brand . BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, King displayed an open mouth and wagging tail. When the counselor attempted to collar he would attempt to nudge his head away. When the owner attempted to collar King also nudged his head and would not allow the owner the place the collar. King scanned negative.

KNOWN HISTORY: Altered, Owner Surrender Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward children: Friendly with children he has met ages six and over. Behavior toward dogs: Lunges, barks, and chases them. Behavior toward cats: Lunges, barks, and chases them. FG/RG: Does not show any aggression if food bowl is touched while he is eating. May growl if a bone, toy, or object is taken from his mouth. Bite history: No bites reported. Housetrained: Unknown Energy level/descriptors: Playful and independent with a high activity level. Other notes: Upon intake he was unable to be collared as he kept moving his head away. SAFER ASSESSMENT: 10/31/16 Summary: Upon entering the assessment room, King Boo hard starred the assessor upon approach, standing tall and making direct eye contact. King Boo became fearful in the assessment room after several minutes, attempting to flee from handlers, avoiding and form of interaction. King Boo is not an appropriate candidate for a behavior assessment at this time and would benefit best from placement with a New Hope group. PLAYGROUP: According to King’s previous owner, when King comes across another dog or cat he will lunge, bark and chase. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, King greets a novel female dog displaying neutral body language. He mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen, tolerating the female’s face to face greetings and play solicitations.
