10/25/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: I’ll be the first to admit that I’m no dog whisperer, but I really seemed to “drop the ball”, so to speak, when I first met King Charles. I had taken his collar off to put on this fabulous bow tie in the yard for pictures, and King Charles kept nudging it off of the bench to the ground, picking it up and putting it back onto the bench. I thought it was cute, not thinking too much about it, until he did it repeatedly, looking up at me, whining, like “Lady, I am trying to tell you something.” And then finally, it hit me. He wanted a walk! I can imagine in his former home he was the dog that brought the leash to his owners and that’s what he was doing with his collar. Lo and behold as soon as we hit the sidewalk, he relieved himself immediately. Some dogs just don’t want to be confined to the yard to do their business. King Charles lived with another male dog (Gordo A1093602) in his former home and enjoyed playing tug with rope toys with him. He’s been around kids 7 and up and loves running in the park and going for long walks. Once I had successfully communicated with King Charles, we returned to the yard where he seemed to relax a lot. He climbed into my lap, all four paws on my legs and showered me with kisses, his sweet wrinkled face expressing joy to be with his new friend. I’m sure King Charles will have no shortage of things to “tell” you, so come to the Brooklyn Care Center and ask to meet him today!
