03/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper dog: A1066057 King previously lived with 1 adult, a cat and a child 10 years old. The owner stated King is playful and sometimes rough depending on how they play. The owner mentioned King lived with a cat that he is playful towards until the cat no longer wants to play. It was reported by the owner King is reactive towards strangers because of lack of socialization, he would bark and attempt to snap at them. The owner stated king is house trained, has a medium activity level and well behaved when he’s in crate but would bark and cry for attention. At intake it was reported King would bark and attempt to lunge, no handling was conducted due to his behavioral temperament. During SAFER King came into the assessment room nervous, timid and anxious to exit out the room, he was not interested with the assessor. Not all handling items were able to be conducted as King growled at the assessor when attempting to collar him. He displayed no interest in the toy item during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash King does not approach, but instead turns his body to the side and exits. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog. Turns body to side in relation to other dog, or exits.
