08/26/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Kik Kat is very eager to come out of her spotless den. She must attend to business, then, she relaxes, easing into a very nice and calm walk to the park. Kik Kat is an middle aged lady, well dressed in her oreo coat. She has a number of calluses and long nails. She is lost and a little anxious here at the care center. It is hot and at midway, in the park, Kik Kat needs to lay down, and rests by my feet. She drinks from a bowl of water and we are able to head back to the care center. I feel for her. I know she is not the aloof dog she projects. She is tired and wary. She belonged to an owner just few days ago, and I so see her, spread on a soft blanket, a large smile illuminating her face and accepting a scratch behind her ears. Seniors deserve so much better than to be relinquished. Golden years should be ahead for this serene senior. You can bring hope and joy in Kik Kat ‘s life. Come and meet her at the Manhattan Care Center. Take her home as your very special new friend.

The behavior team feels that Kik Kat should be allowed time to acclimate to life outside the shelter environment as the only resident dog, before following up on her behavior around them.
