Medical: DVM Intake Exam Findings; scan positive; History: History of MPL, otherwise no reported medical issues. ~11yrs, spayed; Subjective: QAR; Observed Behavior – Allowed all handling; Evidence of Cruelty seen – No; Evidence of Trauma seen – No; Objective: P = 160 R = intermittent panting BCS 4/9; EENT: Immature cataracts OU (L>>R), ears clean, no nasal discharge noted; Oral Exam: Severe dental tartar, moderate gingivitis and gingival recession; PLN: No enlargements noted; H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic; ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated; U/G: Spay scar seen and palpated; MSI: Ambulatory x 4, Abnormal gait in hind end due to bilaterally grade 3/4 luxated patellas, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, unkempt hair coat with alopecia and dermatitis at caudal ventrum; CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities; Assessment: Geriatric, dental disease, bilateral MPL; Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC. Good short term prognosis
PROFILE:
BASIC INFORMATION: Keyara is a female Pomeranian. She is 11 years old and has been treated for a luxating patella on her left hind leg in the past. Keyara was last seen by a vet three years ago. She was surrendered to ACC due to owner’s residential move to a home that does not allow pets.
SOCIALIZATION: Keyara is shy for a few minutes and then becomes friendly and outgoing around strangers. She has been exposed to children and plays gently with adults and children. Keyara has resided with a dog, she is friendly towards the dog she lived with and dogs she comes across in the street or park. Keyara has not bitten another animal or person within the past 10 days.
BEHAVIOR: Keyara allows the owner to touch her while she is eating, The owner is also able to remove bones, toys and items from her mouth with ease. Keyara allows grooming and trimming of her nails.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Keyara is best described as a friendly and affectionate dog. The owner stated their favorite things about Keyara, include her affection towards the owner, Keyara enjoys getting belly rubs. Keyara does not play too much but loves to be around her owner receiving attention. Keyara has been kept mostly indoors. Keyara eats both dry and wet food from brand Science diet. Keyara is housetrained and will occasionally urinates indoors.. Keyara has been placed in doggy day care and does well. Keyara enjoys going out for brisk walks.
BEHAVIOR UPON INTAKE: Upon intake, Keyara displayed a loose body, wagging tail and open mouth. Keyara allowed all handling and scanned positive.
