Behavior
Kent came into the shelter on 7/18/19 as a stray; so there is no owner information at this time. Upon intake Kent was described as being tense yet allowing all handling. During SAFER, when Kent came into the assessment room he had a loose body posture while interacting with the assessor; he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Kent was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Kent was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Kent appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is wagging with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1:1 Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy 1: 1. No Interest.
DOg-Dog:When entering the pen, Kent greets both males and females with a soft body. Kent is slightly sexually motivated but will listen to handler interruptions. He spends most of his time to himself.
Kent was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown.
7/18: When entering the pen, Kent greets both males and females with a soft body. Kent is slightly sexually motivated but will listen to handler interruptions. He spends most of his time to himself.
