Medical Summary Scanned Pos# ; BARH-tolerated all handling; Intact Female. Approx 12 yrs old. Heavy tartar and gingivitis, bilateral nuclear sclerosis; Slightly fluffy coat, over grown nails; Small mass on lower lip; Shaved abdomen but no obvious spay scar seen. No parasites or fleas seen. Ambx4; NOSF
RE-EXAM
10/11/16 : Geriatric exam.
O: BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. Social, calm and easy to handle. ORAL: Mild calculus, worn teeth. EENT: Nuclear sclerosis OU. No discharge. H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs. ABD: Palpation WNL. MS: Amb x 4. Decreased range of motion in both stifles, with mild joint thickening. Medial buttress right stifle with meniscal click. No lameness.
INTEG: 1 cm black skin growth on rostral mandible. Dorsal left metatarsus – 1 cm alopecic, slightly thickened erythematous area. Not moist, slight scabbing. A: DJD both stifles, suspect chronic ACL tear right stifle. Chin mass DDX: adenoma, cyst, MCT, other. Acral lick granuloma left metatarsus. P: Start NSAIDs for stifle arthritis: Rx Rimadyl 100 mg. 1 PO q 24 hours. Rec. baseline blood tests when placed. Good prognosis.

SSESSMENT:
Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, or low and a bit fearful.
Flank 1&2: 1. Dog does not respond at all.
Toy: 1. No interest
Summary: Kayla displayed no concern during her behavior assessment.
PLAYGROUP:
Kayla was brought in as a stray so her behavior around other dogs is unknown.
10/9: When off leash at the Care Center, Kayla approaches the helper dog with a loose, wiggly body and greets him front to back. She then mostly keeps to herself exploring the yard. Kayla did offer a very soft correction growl when the helper dog’s energy was too much for her.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:
During her initial medical examination, Kayla readily allowed all handling without issue.
