PROFILE:
Basic Information:
Kanye is a 7 year old unneutered male that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Kanye since he was a puppy but had to surrender due to landlord issues.
Socialization:
According to the owner, around strangers Kanye usually barks and then runs away to hide. He usually takes a few days to warm up to someone. He has been around children 7m+ & owner stated that Kanye is respectful around his 7m old child but would bark at the other children that would approach him. Owner did not have any other dogs in the home but stated that when he would walk Kanye outside, Kanye always had a loose and wiggly body around other dogs. He has never been around a cat so behavior is unknown. Kanye has never bit another person or animal while in the care of the owner.
Behavior:
When there are fireworks or thunderstorms outside, Kanye becomes nervous and tries to hide. He is not bothered when owner would take away his food, treats or toys, being pushed off furniture, being held/restrained, being disturbed while sleeping, being given a bath, or having his coat brushed. Owner took Kanye to a groomer to have his nails trimmed & stated that they needed to muzzle him or he would try to bite. When unfamiliar people would approach owner’s home or yard, Kanye would bark and growl.
For a New Family to Know:
Kanye is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, excitable and independent. He has a medium activity level and loves to play with rope toys. In the home, Kanye liked to follow the owner around from room to room. Kanye was kept mostly indoors and is house trained. The only time he would have accidents is if the owner missed his walk time. When left alone in the home, Kanye liked to eat owner’s shoes. He was never left alone in the yard so behavior is unknown. Owner stated that Kanye is crate trained and would spend a few hours a day in a crate without any issues. He knows the cues sit, come, stay and paw. For exercise, Kanye was taken on brisk walks on the leash or be let out in the yard to play. When on the leash, Kanye tends to pull lightly. Owner has never tried to walk him off leash so behavior is unknown.
