03/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kane came to us as an owner surrender due to the owner’s living situations. According to the owner Kane is relaxed and gentle toward everyone he meets and has lived with 2 children and a newborn in his previous home. Kane had very stiff body language when removing him from his kennel and seemed to be very uncomfortable on the slip lead when walking through the shelter. He pulled very hard on the leash when on his relief walk and seemed to calm a bit when outside. When Kane came into the behavior room he seemed to have high anxiety of his environment and was not interested in socializing with the assessor. As the assessor attempted to adjust his collar Kane became very uncomfortable and began to bark at the assessor. He constantly tried to increase distance, and look for an exit away from the assessor while struggling on the slip lead. Kane’s body language was becoming very stiff and tense during this time and the assessor was unable to conduct the tactile portion of the assessment. Kane showed no interest in the toy on this portion of the assessment. We recommend placement with a rescue at this time that can provide Kane with positive experiences in a structured environment. Toy 1: No interest. When off leash with other dogs, Kane greets with a neutral body. He enters the pen and hightens his stance and becomes a little sexually motivated but does not attempt to mount. He spends the rest of the time exploring the yard.
