09/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kaiser is fearful of the shelter environment he walks with a low and fearful body language. He need time to warm up to the assessor. During the assessment Kaiser was fearful and repeatedly attempted to get away from the handler. Kaiser was fearful while playing tag but was unresponsive to the touch. He was not interested in toy. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Kaiser is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. Kaiser has been showing fearful behavior and avoids interaction in the care center. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Kaiser is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body stiff, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1. No interest.
09/15/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
09/15/16: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Kaiser is nervous in the yard environment. He allows the female greeter dog to sniff him, however is uncomfortable with play and offers appropriate correction in order to increase distance. Kaiser arrived into our care as a stray, so there is no available history of previous interaction with other dogs. The behavior team feels that Kaiser should be allowed time to acclimate to life outside the shelter environment as the only resident dog, before following up on his behavior around them.
