01/28/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Who could resist that face?!! Dogs don’t come much easier or more lovable than our little June bug, and impossible as it seems, this beautiful girl is even sweeter than she looks! As a recent Mama suffering from Pyometra, she must surely be in pain, yet you’d never know it from her happy-go-lucky attitude and eagerness for attention. Tail-waggingly keen to get up and toddle out for a walk, June takes care of all her ‘business’ promptly before crunching on through the snow, sniffing here and pawing there, hopping over mounds of ice and delighting in the scent trail of fellow pups. She enjoys kisses and petting and gives delicate little thank you smooches of her own in return, and whatever the faults of her former home, her heart is still just as trusting and affectionate as that of a puppy. She nibbles treats like a lady and obeys commands for ‘come’, ‘sit’ and ‘go inside’ like they were second nature, and it’s no surprise to see she scored very high in her behavior assessment with great scores on everything from handling to leash walking to doggie socializing–this sweet sweet girl has it all! An angel with the face of a teddy bear and the spirit of a champion, June the Great is at our Manhattan Care Center, patiently waiting and hoping that today is the day she gets to go home… with you.

01/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
June walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. June was calm and relaxed during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She took the toy away but had soft body language. June rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. June did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with her tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip long or neutral. Helper: A1062996
