Hello, my name is Jules. My animal id is #15023. I am a female white dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 3 years old.
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 30-Nov-2017.
Jules is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other dogs. Jules has been friendly and easy to handle in the care center.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age:~2-3yrs Microchip noted on Intake? no History : Stray, brought in by field Subjective: BARH Observed Behavior – Very active, attention seeking, allows all handling Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective P = WNL R = WNL BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Mild dental tartar/staining/wear PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, dirty hair coat, healed wound at dorsal muzzle CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: Apparently healthy (healed wound on nose) Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC Prognosis: Excellent SURGERY: Okay for surgery
New CIRDC noted on rounds Subjective: QAR. Pile of phlegm/vomit and coughing in cage. Objective EENT: serous nasal d/c bilaterally, no ocular d/c ou H/L: Eupneic but coughing MSI: healing scab on bridge of nose CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment: CIRDC Plan: Start doxycycline 10mg/kg PO SID x14d until 12/18 Recheck at day 7 Move to iso Prognosis: Good

Look:: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, ears are back, tail is down, relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag:: 1. Dog follows at the end of the leash, body soft.
Paw squeeze 1:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Paw squeeze 2:: 1. Dog gently pulls back his/her paw.
Toy:: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. Dog does not place his/her body between you and the toy.
Summary:: Jules came into the room loose and wiggly, she was friendly and playful towards the handlers.
Summary (1):: Jules was surrender as a stray so her past behavior with other dogs is unknown. 12/1: When off leash at the Care Center, Jules engages in play with several males. She is uncomfortable with body contact and a dogs who’s energy is higher than hers; she delivers a hard, over-correction like multiple barks and muzzle punches. 12/02: Jules persistently solicits play with paw slaps and body bumps another male dog. She listens to handler interruptions and slows down. 12/03- 12/04: Jules continues to be somewhat pushy about her play solicitations and becomes frustrated when they are not reciprocated. She becomes mouthy, and nips at other dogs faces.
