JR seems like a great pup! His former owner has tons of great things to say about him…exactly what we like to hear when we have our eyes set on a pet we want to make ours…JR is only 7 month old, a large youngster friendly to strangers(he surely is..) and playful with children and other dogs alike. He would be mostly house trained(which we verified), free of handling issues, well mannered when left alone in the house and attended regularly, leash free, a dog park.He would be very energetic and playful.JR is waiting at his door. What a good looking dog! Pure chocolate..And those mesmerizing golden eyes! He is perfectly made and dressed. And so healthy looking. His tail is already wagging when he sees my leash. He is pretty good on the walk, pulling at times and hoping to play with other dogs. He does his business without marking and I have not seen him yet going after the pigeons. He loves treats, will sit for them and hop on the bench upon request. JR is quite affectionate, comes on the lap and makes sure that my face his thorough fully washed with his generous tongue. He is forgiven…JR is just a puppy… JR comes partially puppy trained and is on his way to become a great adult. Still, he needs a new owner to perfect what he knows already and to add what is needed to yield a perfect fit with his new home and family. Youngsters need time, effort and commitment to become the wonderful grown up dog we dream to have by our side. Come and meet JT at the Manhattan Center. He so wants to be yours.
PROFILE:
JR is friendly and outgoing towards strangers. He’s spent time around children ages 9 and 10 and is relaxed and playful with them. He plays exuberantly with both children and adults. He’s spent time with other dogs on the street and dog park and is very relaxed and playful with them (but can be very jumpy). He’s never spent time around cats so it’s unknown how he would react around them. He has never bitten another animal or human.
During loud noises, JR is alert. He follows his food bowl when it’s taken away while he’s eating. He’s friendly and thinks his owner is playing when it’s a bone or toy being taken away. He isn’t bothered when pulled off of furniture or when restrained from something that he wants. When awoken from his slumber, he looks up and goes right back to sleep. JR tolerates baths and brushing and has never had his nails clipped. When someone unfamiliar approaches his home or humans, JR will bark but become friendly when they come in or let him sniff them out.
JR is friendly, affectionate, playful, and excitable. He has a high activity level and when he’s ready to play enjoys fetch with balls, chasing people/animals, and tugging on stuffed animals, rope and bones. Above all else, JR loves being outside and running around. His owner loves how he knows when he’s done something wrong. When his owner is home, he likes to hang out in the same room but when his owner is in his bedroom, JR hangs out on the couch in the living room. He sleeps in his doggy bed, also located in the living room and is kept mostly indoors. He’s mostly house-trained and will only go potty if hasn’t been walked for 6-7 hours. He loves going potty on grass, dirt and trees. He’s well-behaved when left home-alone and has never been crate-trained. He knows sit, down, come, go, and no. For exercise, JR enjoys off-leash dog parks and brisk walks on leash. JR doesn’t pull on-leash. He eats Iams dog food, two cups, 2-3 times a day (depending how hungry he is).
On intake, JR was very friendly and kept tugging towards the counselor for pets. He climbed up onto counselor and allowed all handling.
