PROFILE
Jr. is a 1 year old neutered male Rhodesian ridgeback mixed with pit-bull. His previous owner got him as a gift 6months ago. He was surrender because he is destructive when left alone. He has no known injuries or health problems and the last time he went to the vet was in October of 2015.
SOCIALIZATION
Around strangers Jr is friendly and outgoing and when he plays with adults he is exuberant. Around children ages 8 months and 2 years, Jr. is relaxed and playful and exuberant when he plays. Around other dogs Jr. is also relaxed and playful and when he plays he is exuberant.
BEHAVIOR
Jr. has never attempted to bite a person or animal. He often destroys stuff indoors and is anxious when left alone. He isn’t bothered by storms or fireworks. His previous owner has never attempted to touch his food bowl while he was eating. He’s friendly if a toy or treat is taken from him. He isn’t bothered if he is pushed off furniture or given a bath. He is afraid of nail trimmers but isn’t bothered if his paws are touched. He is friendly if his coat is brushed, if he is held or restrained or if an unfamiliar person approached his previous home or owner. He isn’t bothered if he is disturbed while sleeping.
FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW
Jr. is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, excitable, and anxious. He has a very high activity level. The things his previous owner liked most about him were; he’s friendly and great with everyone, calm but playful. When his previous owners were home, Jr. would follow them around. He liked chew toys. His favorite games were fetch and tug.
His previous owner feels he would do well in a home with a yard. He was kept indoors only, and at night he slept in a crate with an open door. He ate both wet and dry Purina Pro Plan. He is house trained and rarely had accidents. When left alone indoors he destroys house hold items, barks and whines. He is crate trained and does well for up to 8 hours. He knows how to sit, come, stay and drop it. For exercise he went on brisk walks on leash and to off leash dog parks twice daily. On leash he pulls lightly and off leash he wanders but comes when called.
BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE
Jr. allowed me to pet him, restrain him, collar him, and take pictures. He jumped up for hugs and gave kisses. He also sat on command and showed no signs of aggression.
