10/22/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Johnny Bravo does not go after birds, bikes or squirrels. His nemesis are flies. It is so funny to see this well-mannered dog running and jumping smoothly after a tiny insect. A lovely smile and gentle eyes uncover Johnny Bravo’s sweet and even personality. He is really a pleasure to be with! After an initial rush to do his business, Johnny B cruises nicely the streets and the nearby park. He is cool meeting other dogs (in playgroups, he does not look for trouble, greets or keeps to himself). He does not mind being tethered for photos and poses gladly, sitting on command for treats or none. Johnny B enjoys caresses, and in a very Rottie fashion, leans on me for bonding. He is really a very easy dog to walk and spend time with and would be an ideal pooch for a new owner looking for a friendly and easy going companion. Free in a pen, Johnny B roams around, gives me his paw on demand, and decides to take a break, laying in the shadow for a little rest. He is five years old, very healthy looking, wears a well-groomed coat with pretty markings, and enjoys a healthy weight. I bring him a bowl of fresh water and few more treats. Now, we’re talking. Johnny Bravo is worth your attention. He is a swell guy, well-mannered, with an ideal level of energy, sociable, friendly and affectionate. Come and meet your new forever best friend at the Manhattan Care Center. Johnny Bravo so would love to start his life again with you.
10/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 10/17/16 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth, shoulder rubs. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1/2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest, dog sniffs toy. Summary: Johnny Bravo did not show any behavioral concerns on his assessment. PLAYGROUP: When introduced off leash to another dog in the care center, Johnny Bravo approaches and greets, postures to mount. When offered correction, he wanders away. He arrived as a stray with no history around other dogs. He is currently unaltered. Due to limited history and observation, the behavior department feels that Bundles would highly benefit from having a pre-adoption interaction to ensure compatibility with a resident dog. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/16/16 On his initial medical exam Johnny Bravo allowed handling but was tense when touched. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control (It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute frustration and teach him to control his impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training is recommended.)
